Night Frost and Winter Sunrise:

A rare event here in the South West of the UK:

Hard frost in the night and a lovely sunrise,

transforming the meadow into

a world of light and delight:

Frosty meadow in early morning sunrise

Frosty meadow in early morning sunrise

Herewith short series of the meadow bathed in ever changing light of a rare and clear winter sunrise.

Lucky the meadow has not been grazed bare but a flock of sheep is about to tackle the growth

ready for another glorious display for bees and butterflies this coming summer.

  1. Beautiful series of images, Paula. Might have asked this before – are these handheld? My out and out favourite is the one with the big tree trunk upper right and the thick branch coming left in silhouette across the backdrop – for me, the combination of this tree and that foreground makes it. The one with the big, multitrunked tree silhouette on the right also gets to me a lot. Good stuff! Adrian

    • Thank you, Adrian ..brilliant minds think alike..those are my own favourites too! Yes, handheld but with fast lenses…I am not fond anymore of the ‘perfection of tripod stuff….For me , it is the little imperfections that make things come alive and interesting. Thank you again.
