Stanley Tobacco Warehouse Liverpool Docks

The future looks bright

In this huge brick building tobacco was stored

prior to being made into cigarettes early in the 1900s

The building stood empty , decaying for decades but now ,

part of the building is being restored and converted into a luxury hotel.

It was a rarely granted privilege to be escorted around and allowed to take photos.

There’s an old Howard Johnson hotel in my town that’s been under renovation for many years now. I want so badly to be allowed to go in and shoot. Any tips on how to convince the project managers?

    • That is indeed a nightmare..this health and safety stuff is not good for exciting photography. About your question, I just asked around and smiled a lot and eventually the right person allowed me in, and just about stayed glued to me in case I fell down and killed myself!!

    • Thank you Simon and yes, they will filter through some time soon, I was gobsmacked by the beauty of the Liverpool heritage still around the dock area,…a hotel is being built there now, using many of the original materials..hmmm, we will see.
