Beautiful image, my friend. I know this place – indeed, “what nature can unleash” is something else, and never to be taken lightly. As a geologist and therefore thinking in terms of geological time and processes, it always amazes me that our coastline remains as constant – during our brief lifespans – as it does. A

Hallsands, on the south Devon Coast. Gravel was taken from the sea close to the village for nearby Plymouth, which allowed the storm swept seas to come in with much more force with disastrous consequences.
