The Dance of the Cranes
We are building and building
Higher and Higher , Bigger and Better
Yet there are homeless on the streets
in towns, cities and villages EVERYWHERE.

Progress? The homeless have nowhere to go, there are starving people in the UK,YES, the UK
love this one…something about cranes against the sky that sums up the human endeavor 🙂

I spent some years in the 3rd world, in Kenya, and became used to seeing beggars on the street, and the vast difference between the haves and have nots there. So that, in 1989, when I finally returned to the UK, I was staggered to see beggars on the streets and people sleeping rough here too. Well that was the end of the Thatcher years (boy, am I glad to have missed the Thatcher years!), and maybe such things had been around before I left the UK many years earlier – but all I certainly know us that I found such things here in 1989, and they’ve never gone away since then, which I see as a dreadful state of affairs for our “advanced” and wealthy country.

Your words ring true, Paula. A prevalent and difficult issue where we live.
